F 16 is responsible for the Uppsala garrison and the operation of Uppsala Airport. The wing is also responsible for the surveillance of Swedish airspace 24/7, year-round, and leads the Air Force's combat aircraft in the air. You will become part of a military organization undergoing significant change and development due to the current international situation and Sweden's NATO membership. About the Unit

The Wing Staff is the unit that prepares and assigns orders from the unit commander to directly subordinate units.

The Exercise and Cooperation Department (A79) has the main task of coordinating, planning, and managing lessons learned from exercises, training, readiness checks, and unit development. The goal is to achieve tactically desirable effects according to C F16's unit development plan. A79 also coordinates and conducts a large part of C F 16's local and regional cooperation with civilian actors within the total defense, as well as being responsible for communication and quality work at the wing.

As a Planning Officer, you will be part of a team working with both exercise planning and civil-military cooperation. Together with other parts of the wing staff, you will support C F 16.

The position of Planning Officer gives you the opportunity to contribute to F 16's unit development by applying your current competencies in operations, operational readiness, defense planning, and exercises. The position provides you with experience in staff work and planning methods at the unit level, as well as the opportunity to develop your competence in tactical and operational requirements and objectives for the unit.

Main Responsibilities

Within exercise planning, the position includes planning, coordination, implementation, and follow-up of exercise activities. The role involves following up, analyzing, and documenting lessons learned, as well as proposing improvement measures. In your position, you will collaborate with national and international military as well as civilian actors. You will contribute to the development of methods, processes, and concepts for exercise planning and evaluation, and participate in staff work and support operational planning related to training, exercise, and readiness.

The position also involves developing and maintaining civil-military cooperation within the framework of the total defense. You will serve as a central link between the Swedish Armed Forces and civilian actors at the local and regional levels to strengthen society's collective defense capability. The role includes planning, coordinating, and developing civil-military cooperation within the wing's area of operation, as well as supporting unit leadership and commanders with advice on these matters. You will work on maintaining and developing networks with authorities, regions, municipalities, business life, and other actors within the total defense, and represent the wing in cooperation forums, working groups, and networks.

In addition, you are expected to contribute to the development of plans, routines, and processes related to total defense, readiness, and host nation support. You will conduct analyses and provide material for decision-making, participate in handling crises, heightened readiness, and other situations where coordination between civilian and military actors is required. You will follow developments in the total defense area and translate national guidelines and regulations into practical operations.

QUALIFYING

  • Competence in basic staff work and staff work methodology

Employment Type: Permanent. The Swedish Armed Forces may apply a six-month probationary period.

Employment Level: Full-time

Work Location: Uppsala. F 16 also has operations in other locations, which may involve occasional business travel.

Working Hours: Primarily daytime. Evening and weekend duty may occur during exercise activities.

Start Date: As soon as possible, according to agreement.
